Criminal Justice Online
CJS online is the ‘gateway to the criminal justice system,’ providing a central store of information and resources relating to all aspects of the criminal justice system.

Crown Prosecution Service
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is responsible for prosecuting people in England and Wales who have been charged with an offence by the Police.

Personal Support Unit
The Personal Support Unit is an independent registered charity, based at the Royal Courts of Justice. It exists to provide practical and emotional support (but not legal advice) for litigants at court. Many have severe problems with money, housing or family that lead to the civil courts. Understanding and finding their way through the system can be a nightmare. Over a quarter of the clients at the RCJ have English as a second language.

The service was started on the initiative of a volunteer at the Old Bailey Witness Service, Diana Copisarow, and the Co-ordinator of the Service, Michael Naish (who was subsequently Director of Victim Support Islington). It is now well established at the RCJ and has over 100 volunteers. The Director is Judith March. The intention always was to test out the need for support in County and Family Courts, and below is an account – from the in-house magazine of the DCA – of the newly developed service at Wandsworth County Court.

To contact the service: judithm@thepsu.co.uk. For more information: michaelnaish@f2s.com.
